It's the best pretzel in the Bay — baked next door at Firebrand and then grilled and paired with dips at The Rake — and it's only available for one more day.
The Rake, a pub attached to the Admiral Maltings production facility, has been a highlight of Alameda Point. Building 91, its home, represented the first private redevelopment at Alameda Point, completed in 2018.
Besides the tastefully recreated building and the tasty pretzel, my family and I have enjoyed The Rake's atmosphere. In a world of businesses offering us millennial-aged parents cootie-filled sandboxes, "functional" beverages, and whatever else is the current latest trend, The Rake has met those of us with more jaded eyes and said beer, food, music at a respectful volume, no more no less. It's been a perfect place for impromptu birthday parties, meeting up with friends and family from out of town, and hanging outside with kids and dogs.
But Admiral Maltings' time has come to an end, and now The Rake will be closing as well.
If you'd like to have a pretzel or a beer while we chat about Attachment 6-C in the staff report for Regular Item 7-C in an Alameda City Council agenda packet and my kids run around, stop by The Rake tomorrow.
Well, let me rephrase since that sounded lame and I made up those attachment and agenda item numbers: Grab a drink and a bite with The Morning Bun tomorrow Sunday, October 18 from 11:30 a.m. to probably about 1 p.m.
Bring your thoughts for chit-chat about housing, transportation, the upcoming local election (including Measure L), and engaging with change in Alameda.
