Alameda voters will decide Alameda's next mayor, two council seats, and three school board seats in the November 2026 election.

💡
The elected roles of city treasurer and city auditor, with their sinecures of CalPERS Platinum PPO coverage (or their choice of other plans) with $0 premiums for an unlimited number of dependents, plus reserved parking spots in downtown Alameda, are not scheduled for this ballot.

Want to know who's running? Don't ask me — instead here are options to follow along yourself as the fall election shapes up:

  1. Subscribe to the City Clerk's mailing list to receive updates on who's "pulling papers" during the nomination period from July 13 to August 6 (or August 12 under certain circumstances). It's a multi-step process. Not all potential candidates who begin necessarily complete the filing process, so there can be a touch of drama with each update.
  2. Check the Alameda County Registrar of Voters candidate list at the end of the nomination period.
  3. See which probable candidates are filing new California Fair Political Practices Commission Form 410 statements of organization aggregated by the county, and see which campaigners are reporting fundraising and expenses through the city's CampaignDocs eRetrieval website. (Click that latter link only if you want to travel back in time to a web portal circa 2007.)
  4. Browse the web for candidate websites, podcast interviews, social media posts, and newsletters.

A word on that last linked newsletter: East Bay Insiders blends the author's diligent watching of public meetings, the framing that local electeds and candidates likely propose when texting in tips and pitches, and the author's own outlook.

That's not intended as pointed criticism. I'm just advising being mindful when reading single-author publications — including single-author publications named after breakfast pastries.
🙋‍♂️
To be clear: I'm not myself running for any of those seats in November (even if the thought of potentially being granted the opportunity by voters to park my bike in a reserved auto stall in the City Hall parking lot is almost tempting).

Or you can just wait and, no doubt, the candidates will each be trying their best to reach you and introduce themselves as November nears...
